| - I had no idea Montreal had such a thing for Portuguese chicken. Romados seems to be the most popular place to go for Portuguese chicken, it was recommended to me a dozen times. I had high hopes based on the extreme hype I received and I was mostly satisfied.
I got the chicken sandwich and fries, my boyfriend got the 1/2 chicken and fries. I also got a Portuguese egg tart. The fries were solid, hand cut and tossed in a tasty salty seasoning. The portions were generous. The chicken sandwich itself was tasty too, the chicken was very juicy and tender and I like the hot sauce they put on it, so much so that I bought a little container of it and poured it on everything, it kind of reminds me of chili oil more than any other hot sauce I've tried. I actually didn't like the bun they put it on, I'm not a huge fan of crusty bread, I ended up tearing a bunch of it off. The skin on my boyfriend's chicken was mindblowing, much better than kfc's. mmmm.
The real star of the show was the egg tart for me oddly enough. They're sooo good. They're just tarts with custard in them, I'm not sure what makes them so delicious but they're creamy and flaky and amazing. I bought a box of 6 on my way home to Halifax.
Try the Portuguese sodas. They're great. They have tons of different baked goods, and different items on the menu besides chicken that I'd love to try. Not to mention its very reasonably priced. If I lived in Montreal I'd be a regular.
