The Peculiar Rabbit is a place that should be crushing it on the regular. Amazing view from the top bar - check. Multi level restaurant with tons of seating and several cool bars - check. Great location in Plaza Midwood - check. Great outdoor patio - check. However, this place just always seems to come up short.
I will say the last two times I have been here are on Mondays, so you can take my review with a grain of salt. Drafts of beer start around $6.50/ea and the menu is fairly simple pub fare - a little overpriced IMO. I do wonder how they keep this place running as every time I have been there is always a new server (I mean the "its my first day here" kind) who never seems to have the support they need to pull off large groups or answer questions about what is on tap or what is coming out of the kitchen. This normally throws up a big flag in my book for high turnover due to lackluster management skills. Case in point, we had a group last week out on the patio and no one in the restaurant apparently knew where the switch was located. It took about 20 minutes to get the chef out who knew where the switch was located. Odd and overall small situation, but just goes to show how keeping good staff can create a better overall customer experience.
My big takeaways are the menu feels uninspired, the drinks are priced on the high side, and the general experience just doesn't contain the "Wow" factor you expect when you pull up. It's frustrating as they seem so close - "good bones" kind of close. I hope they can figure out a way to pull it all together.
