| - Hearthstone is the restaurant in the station group that I visit the most. I've been here many times for dinner, and I like some of the items a lot. This location is also convenient to me. Hence, I kept coming back. As for brunch, I was only here once and I didn't like the options nor the entree I had.
The service was decent when I visited this week. It can be hit or miss.
On my recent visit, they changed the menu again and took out some of my favorites including steak tartare and FG&J(it just came back and it's gone again). The whole dining experience was disappointing with some of the new items. I will list them out in below.
1. Baked Ricotta (3/5): this dish no longer came with small jar of truffle money on the side, or they forgot? It did not taste the same with it. This is my must order dish each time, so I was highly disappointed. I guess I will need to ask for truffle honey on the side next time to see if it still tastes the same.
2. Tuna Tartare (1/5): it was sooo terrible. The fish wasn't that fresh. They might as well call this salty tuna. It was so salty that we couldn't psychically eat it.
3. Brussel Sprouts (1/5): it was burnt and bitter. We had to send this back to the kitchen because it was not inedible. I never had crispy Brussels sprouts this bad.
4. Oysters (4/5): they are $1 each on wed, so not much complaints there for the quality of the oysters.
5. Apple and Quinoa Salad (3/5): it was decent. We added the chicken with it and the chicken was kinda of meh.
6. Lollipop Chicken Wings (4/5): this was one of the new items that I've tried and it was one of the few items that we liked this time.
7. Shrimp and Grits (3/5): I love shrimp and grits. I often order it when I see it on the menu. Shrimp was fresh and the sauce was yummy. However, the grits was not fully cooked and it was still touch and crunchy.
8. Wood Roasted Octopus (3/5): it was decent. Not the best nor the worst one I've had. It seemed lack in flavors compared to before. Also, there used to be two octopus arms, now just one?
9. Upside Down Pineapple Caked (5/5): it was the savior of our dinner. The cake was warm and soft. Not too sweet just the way we like it. I will order this again.
In all, the whole dining experience was terrible to try some of the new items on the menu, and even the existing menu items were not the same. We asked the waitress to send back the Brussel sprouts. She didn't bother to ask other items so we didn't tell her about the salty tuna tartare nor the uncooked grits. I really want to be a repeat customers since I really liked the place at one point. I hope that they will reorganize the menu and fix the existing items on the menu.i
