| - If you are ever unhappy with the service or treatment from your vet, push back and don't let up until you get what you want. Your animal best friend can't tell you what's wrong and the results can be ones you'll regret your entire life. I wish I had taken this advice.
Writing this quickly as it's imperative that potential pet owners understand to refuse service from Matthew McCollum upon arrival.
Very, very long story short - after months of trying to find a competent vet, we landed at SBSAH - south buffalo springs animal hospital. Our very competent doctor left the practice so we ended up stuck with Matthew.
Our dog was vomiting, intermittent diarrhea, and an odd head bobbing motion that seemed like he was struggling to keep food down. When tested by the competent doctor, the test showed intestinal infection. Treated, symptoms resolved, symptoms returned.
When we came back, we got stuck with Matthew who immediately rushed to a shaky diagnosis of BRAIN CANCER.
My dog is having two clear symptoms of digestive upset and one that seems to link to digestive upset. Digestive focused treatment resolved all three, and after some time, all three came back. While I have a background in medicine, I think perhaps only middle school algebra is necessary to see that BRAIN CANCER is very unlikely.
Even with gentle pushback that this really, truly seemed like a GI issue, he continued to push to a diagnosis of a neurological issue (which he even had trouble articulating verbally over and over). More pushback from me and he stated he thought a head CT and advanced imaging were necessary but that he wasn't sure he would even be able to treat or help at that point and we'd need to see a specialist.
Our family member of 11 years started to deteriorate after our visit with Matthew McCollum, so much so that I sought out another vet clinic.
With no appointments for two weeks, I ended up back at SBSAH and visited doctor Anderson, who immediately and without question correctly used her veterinary training and human logic to diagnose our little guy.
Hate to leave a negative review that reflects on the whole business, but hopefully, the business owner will take this as action to replace their incompetent staff with more, better-trained staff like doctor Anderson.
Update: we had to rush from SBSAH to the emergency clinic. It turns out our little boy has advanced cancer of the spleen. It ruptured. He has been ill for months and due to Matthew McCollum not asking his more qualified peers for help, I will likely lose my best friend of more than 11 years. Every pet passes, but preemptive surgery to remove an enlarged spleen would have been much easier, less traumatic, less costly, and could have slowed the spread of cancer into the rest of his body. The surgeon says we have three months left with him at most.
Please go to this vet to see doctor Anderson. Please ensure that you or any of your friends that go here refuse service from Matthew McCollum. He's the big guy with the beard.
