| - So what to say about the turn of events that transpired today? That the entire expo was a absolute travesty? Convention goers were seduced with the promises of the state's biggest dessert and sweet expo, one to be remembered for quite some time.
What the masses received was a bag full of lies and unfulfilled promises. The event itself was held outside in one of the parking lots, not even in the inner hallway of the sports complex where the tickets were picked up at. And speaking of the tickets--someone is walking around with pockets of cash from unsuspecting civilians. For $45, one was able to get VIP tickets that would not only entail the free samples and access to the kid's fun zone, but to a VIP tote/goodie bag, a entrance into a soreie, and a few other select perks. With the price of the upgraded admission one should have been in for a treat!
Not the case in the least.
Along with the bullshit VIP bag that looked like it was put together at Dollar General at the last second, the price for that ticket should've covered one to get samples from all the vendors (which let's be real, that's all they were. Not even full samples). $3 for a small squares of, albeit amazing and well crafted, cake? Please! I can get better cake down at the grocery store and get full servings or at least half a damn cake.
On top of all the trite sample sizes, there were only a handful of them. 6 to be exact. Me and my entourage was able to see them all in under five minutes of stepping past the pathetic streamer and picnic table at the beginning tent. One of the vendors was even a glass consultant . AT A DESERT CONVENTION. What in SEVEN HELLS does glass have to do with culinary sweets!?
In short, the entire morning was a steaming pile of donkey doo fresh off the farm. Am I mad I wasted not only my time and money, but my friends' as well? Absofukinlutely. But I'm more upset for the few good vendors who came out on their weekend to expand their businesses and consumer market. They poured their talents into a shameful and ill-executed display of an expo, and now their businesses will be tainted by the foul stench of the promotoers failure. And the promoter needs to be ashamed. They tried to step up with the big boys and failed miserably. If this is attempted next year I pray that they have a better execution than the display that was done today. And if they have a fucking heart they will refund everyone, to include the vendor's, money back for the time and money wasted.
