| - 3 stars because, well, McDonald's, and the 4th star for the Parc Ronald, aka Playplace. Turns out that these playplaces are needles in Montreal's haystack, and despite mcdonalds.com listing a whole bunch of places as having play areas, it's a web of lies! There are no play areas!
But here, there is a playplace. It's small, and no-frills. Kids can climb, and kids can slide. Kids can get themselves up to the top of the thing and refuse to get down, forcing you to squeeze through child-sized doorways and staircases to wrangle them back to earth. Bet you wish you hadn't had that cheeseburger now, eh?
Seriously, though, with Montreal winters being what they are, it just boggles my mind that there are unusable playgrounds, entombed in a thick shell of ice and snow for 5 months of the year standing on every third corner, but I have to take a 40-minute bus trek to Jarry to find an indoor play structure where my toddler can burn off some steam without wearing snowpants. It beats me.
