Dr. Babcock and his staff are - flat out - amazing. Dr. B, his surgical tech, and his wife (a former surgical vet nurse) came into the office in the middle of the night to try and save my dog's life via emergency surgery (for bloat). They did everything they could to try & save her, even though she was 15 years old and prognosis was fairly dim. He stayed with her after surgery until 3:00 a.m., and was back in the office by 8:00 the next morning calling me with an update. The reviews here that nitpick about Dr. B's bedside manner have not seen the side of him that I have. Yes, he's blunt and he will tell you up front if something is going to be expensive. That can be hard to hear. But his compassion and dedication to animals are unparalleled. Most vets would tell you to take your dog to the emergency vet hospital after hours, not come into the office in the middle of the night, stay with your dog all night, and be back the next morning. The whole staff was so caring and compassionate. Even though my old lady dog fought very hard, she didn't make it. But it was so reassuring to know that everyone there did everything they could to try and save her. When it was clear that her organs weren't responding well and she didn't have much time, they let me snuggle her and cry a bunch and talked me through her passing. They even sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a sympathy card the next day. I can't say enough good things about Dr. B and the staff at PV Animal Hospital. They made the hardest day of my life bearable. And that says a lot.
