I was visiting Pittsburg from Chicago for a weekend for a Cubs/Pirates game, and my brother drove in from Philly to meet us. My brother is a HUGE vinyl collector, I just recently started listening to and collecting vinyl records about 6 months ago. My brother said he wanted to hit up Jerry's because he has heard good things. When we found Jerry's its a very unsuspecting looking build from the street, from the outside you would never guess what's inside. When we walked up the stairs and into the store we were initially impressed but then we started noticing there were other rooms...lots of other rooms. This place is absolutely HUGE. I would not be exaggerating if I say there are hundreds of thousands of records in the store. I am still in awe. This is the type of place you need to go and spend a couple hours, unfortunately we didn't have a few hours to spend. Everything is fairly well catalogued/organized but a few of the genre's were off, example I found some "The Power Station" LP's in the Rock section as well as the Alternative section. There were a few examples of bands I was looking for that I found in a section I was not expecting them but I suppose when you are talking about this many records cataloguing them has to be a nightmare. I think equally as impressive as the HUGE inventory is Jerry's prices. Nearly every album I saw was priced between $3-$7, most of them were about $5. Back home in Chicago I have to pay $7-$15 on average at most of the records stores I frequent. If you are a vinyl record collector or even just a small hobby for you Jerry's is a must see. If you are ever in Pittsburgh or western, PA you need to find your way to Jerry's.
