| - I am quite disappointed with my last visit during restaurant week.. I've been coming here for the last 3 years, from the first time to the last, boy was there a huge difference! Three years ago I came in for my birthday and had this fun amazing server who stuck by my table and up sold the crap out of us, but he was so great at it that it was just like "take my money, and stick around!" -definitely would had given him a 5 star alone!
This last Saturday for restaurant week was very different [ hope it wasn't different because of restaurant week]. We were greeted by a male server, he went through the process for my parents and spouse, and told us how everyones our server, we ordered a drink and went straight to the salad bar. After we finished our greens, we immediately turned over that nice little red card to green! All the delicious meats were coming to our table, but our waters and drink were low, couldn't find our original server or the water person, so we had to flag someone down.
One of the carvers brought over I believe it was their pork sausage, I took one and my spouse took one, then right before I bit into mine I hear my BF ask the carver " Umm sir can I get another one that's not stuffed with hair?" The guy looked back but didn't come back so I called for him again, he came back and we were trying to explain the situation to him and he just gave us another sausage, and of course the water guy is just standing there frozen, looking at our plate with what looks like hair on it then looks at us, then walks off.. we asked the carver to grab a server or manager, but he walks off, so we had to flag down a server ourselves. Danya was the first server to actually respond to our situation even though other servers were standing near by doing nothing and we couldn't get their attention. We explained to her what had happened, and I'm sure this has rarely happened [I hope] and asked for her to remove the plate and just get us a new one... few seconds later a manager came over to apologize and explain to us how they grill everything on an open flame and sometime bristles debris can land on top of their meat.
Well that's great to hear, but the problem was it looked like coarse long black hair and it was INSIDE of the sausage, not on top or wrapped around it, he then went on to explain how he doesn't know how that could have happened since there weren't any female chefs on... regardless we just wanted an apology, a new plate and just for them to know to keep a closer eye on their food because it was one of the most disturbing things I've seen at a restaurant. The manager then gave my BF the option to order anything off the regular dessert menu, by this time he kind of lost his appetite already which was unfortunate... we ended up getting the Tres Leche cake option and Creme Brule.
All in all this visit didn't leave my parents or BF with the greatest first time experience...
SIDE NOTE***
All the servers pool tips, but I honestly only saw Danya, a dirty blonde gentleman and someone who looked like he was watching over the servers, working and attending to customers. Our original server who greeted us just stood to the side and chatted for the whole hour we were there, only time he even did anything was when we got his attention and asked for a fresh plate and when he initially greeted us...
I honestly didn't think it was fair to see some of the servers working harder than others and having to split tips with the lazier ones, I even tried personally handing one of them money and thanking them for being so attentive with us, but this person respectfully declined...
Not too sure if I'll ever come back during restaurant week again.. but might continue giving this place another shot, because the food is pretty good here, but when paying about $50 a head, I expect great customer service as well.
