| - "Book the flight you want, and if the price drops after you book, right up until 2 hours before you fly, we'll give you back the difference in WestJet dollars. No games, just peace of mind. That's our Price Drop Guarantee." is the advertised claim, and I believed it.
I fly Westjet often, and have been happy with the flights, no problem there, but it so happened that I recently booked a flight for myself, my daughter and her two kids. I paid for all of us and was not worried about waiting for the best price since I had read the guarantee.
"No games, just peace of mind?", right? Silly me, I took that claim at face value. The devil is in the details and of course I did not know the details until I set out to fill out a claim and found that promise was hollow.
Two days after reserving the flights I happened to check the prices and saw I was eligible for the Westjet Price Drop Guarantee, so I set out to claim the difference. That is when I learned that although I paid all the fares and do not routinely fly with this group, the guarantee only applies to their fares if they each, including children have a Westjet ID -- and then the fare credit goes for each of them, even though they did not pay their own fares -- not to me. Moreover, the credits expire in six months. Some peace of mind!
Maybe this makes some kind of sense to Westjet, but I feel ripped off.
