| - I've passed this place around for as long as I've lived in Vegas, which is about 19 years now, but I've never been until this past NYE to ring in 2018. I can now see why it's been around before my family even moved to the mainland.
Goes back to old school Vegas when you can see Italian-American influence in the decor down to your wait staff's uniforms. Menu's items also reflect old school tastes. LOL. Where else can you see a table-side Caesar salad get tossed for you? Or enviously watch your neighboring table get a flambeed banana foster? Apparently, the Golden Steer Steakhouse is one of the few remaining spots to get this vibe and action.
I've been debating about whether to give this place 4 or 5 stars. Honestly came down to getting great customer service on NYE. It's gotta be tough to be that hospitable when most people would rather actually be the ones out there celebrating with family and friends, so this 5 star review is for the wait staff that were just downright nice and accommodating.
Food and cocktails were great too. Mouth is literally watering just thinking about the lamb chops I had cooked to my preference perfectly. Didn't even mind that there was no accompanying mint jelly for the entree. Ooh... That prime rib the fiance ordered and actually shared with me was amazing. *SIGH*
With about 3-4 specialty cocktails, escargots, French onion soup, a 10 oz. prime rib, lamb chops, a twice-baked potato and sauteed mushrooms, and strawberry cheesecake, the bill came out to be around $275 (includes the 20-25% gratuity) for my fiance and I.
My only regret: not ordering the banana foster.
This place certainly made me feel better about breaking our San Diego trip tradition.
