| - I would've given 1 star if not for my technician's meticulous polish application, which was not easy given the sheer shellac polish that I chose. Absolutely no conversation was attempted with me, not even a "hello" when she began working on me. She was engaged in foreign conversation with the other technicians, however, so I eventually just read an ebook on my phone as she worked. This may have given the wrong impression, as she went a step further and took a seemingly pleasant phone call WHILE working on my nails. She did apologize after, saying, "Sorry. My friend," with a smile. Had it looked like an emergency and/or if she excused herself to take it, I would've been more understanding.
It was a bit concerning that she used her own thumbnail to scrape off my existing shellac polish, but I've never had it before and wasn't sure if that was normal. Additionally, nail salons are supposed to use new files on each person and are only supposed to push back cuticles, not cut them. Visibly used files were used on me, and not only were all of my cuticles cut, but all the skin around every nail including the fingertip. I should've stopped her, as it was also incredibly disturbing to watch the skin of 10 fingers pile up on the cuticle nipper as she worked without ever wiping it off. When she was done with that, the disgusting pile of skin sat there on the tool on the table next to us the remainder of the time; I never saw her clean it.
The cubby hole with UV light in the table looked and felt like it had never been cleaned, something that should be sanitized before and after every client.
I was going to leave it as a "you get what you pay for" experience, but two days later my shellac polish is already lifting and chipping. 8 of my fingers are sore & tender around the area she cut and 2 have now-visible tiny cuts on them, which reminded me of some of the reviews from people who got infections from this place (I should've heeded your warnings!). I am watching them closely as the most strenuous thing I've done with my hands since is to write and turn pages (I'm a full-time student), so this can only be attributed to the unnecessary skin trimming I received. I've also had to file my nails several times to smooth out jagged edges left under the polish that have caught on my clothes and hair.
Overall, NOT a good experience and I was way too nice and forgiving. If you go here, please speak up the way I failed to and ask for new files, a sanitized station, and no cutting!!!
