Was going to give a better review of this YMCA but today changed that. I had been with them for over 2 years just using their small gym. I enjoyed coming in bright and early at 6am, using the upstairs track, cycling room and free weights. I also loved that there was no 2 or 5 year contract deals like other gyms. After about a year and a half I discovered free workouts on Youtube and some Insanity DVDs given to me by a friend. Immediately my trips to the YMCA dwindled.
On exactly Monday 2/16/2015 I decided to stop my membership. I came in early around 10am and spoke with a lady at the counter about canceling. She gave me nothing to sign but just typed away on her computer. She told me that my last payment would come out tomorrow (Tuesday) and that would be my last payment. That was it. She gave me no paperwork to sign or anything. Stupidly I took her word for it.
Tuesday (today) I receive a phone call from the YMCA that my last payment was declined and to give them a call back. The reason my card declined is because toward the end of last month, my bank sent me a new card because their system had been hacked.
I called them back but no one answered, so I drove in to talk to them. I tell them that I was there to pay my last bill because I canceled my membership Monday. Because my card declined I had to pay an extra $25 on top of my monthly fee. I did tell them about my new card, my bank and etc but I still had to pay the extra fee. What angered me much more was when they told me that there was no information about my cancellation on Monday in their computer. What the heck?!
This all could have been avoided if that lady on Monday had given me the necessary forms that I was supposed to fill out when canceling membership, which I was suddenly given today. Because on that form it had a box for my credit card number which I could have updated to just get charged for my monthly fee! Unfortunately I don't know that.....(calling her every worst name in the world) woman from Monday's name but I know her face.
I'm DONE with the YMCA!
