| - This review has been in the works for some time. I think it's difficult writing a review on an apartment complex you lived at for a long time because there can be a lot of ups and downs to think through, and there was with this place.
I will discuss the pros and cons of each category reflecting my four years living here: firstly, the grounds are beautiful with perfectly manicured everything, two sparkling beautiful pools open year round, a jacuzzi at the main pool, a good sized event center, a little fitness center, two great big fields overlooking the Inverness side, and lots of picnic areas. Easy access to the freeway and lots of close shopping and restaurants. Some negatives to this, one is that the over manicuring often leads to really loud yard work very early in the morning.. On the weekends. The fitness center air was never turned up high enough and since the room was so small it heated up quickly. There was also only a small variety of fitness equipment, and something was always broken. The event center was nice but pricey. The front pool was always very loud in the summer as the complex kids were usually there, back one was more quiet. Lastly it's nice that they permit pets but people are so lazy that despite multiple dog bag and garbage locations, there was always dog poop in the yards, and it wasn't cleaned regular enough. Also, the apt complex isn't gated, I always felt safe but there were some incidents with police cars from time to time.
Ok moving on to the apartment itself. The living room and dining room were good size, the kitchen and laundry room also more than adequate with up to date and working appliances. The bedroom was good size with a nice walk in closet in the master and a mirrored sliding doored closet in the spare room. The bathroom had dual sinks and a huge bathtub. I loved the space, everything was usually working well, tons of balcony and outdoor closet space and lots of indoor storage. The maintenance crew were always very speedy and amazingly kind. Negatives include that the floors didn't do much for noise and I could always hear my neighbors upstairs and got in multiple battles with my downstairs neighbor one year for "walking loudly." Insects were normally not a problem but even on the second floor we had two loose scorpions we found and the last year a pregnant female fell into a light fixture and had babies walking all over the kitchen light. Otherwise, no complaints about the apartment itself. Parking is nice also as you have covered parking (there are garages to rent) and all non covered parking was not regulated.
Now for ownership and management. There was a lot of turnover in the office. While there were those I loved working with there were also those I loathed. The issue was just that it was so hard to keep track with all the changes they always made. One year I had amazing service and the assistant manager was unbelievable in helping me get through an issue with my really creepy downstairs neighbor and then other years I just dreaded going in. My major problem was that this property is owned by a corporation and rent fluctuates unlike anywhere else I've ever lived. Rent could be 700 one year and go up over a 100, for just your apartment. If you wanted a cheaper rate they would move you to a less desirable apt, like facing a road, and then move a new tenant into your old place for a "discounted move in rate" and then it would happen again the next year and you'd be moved again! I had some luck with my place and never moved, in four years my rent went up around 350.00. My friends were less lucky and moved apartments within the complex a couple times till they got tired of it and just moved complexes. Totally opposite of every apartment complex I lived in in California or my current one in Nebraska. Usually I feel you get incentives to stay, whereas here it seemed the opposite. Moving out wasn't terrible. We got most of our deposit back minus 100 or so that was taken out for "carpet damage" of a 10 year old carpet that looked exactly the same as when we moved in, but whatever, I prefer not to fight smaller battles.
So.. Overall, not a bad place to live. The facilities are great but the staff and price can be a bit of a gamble.
