  • Contrary to the picture they paint, by having their friends write Google and Yelp reviews about their business, this business is not all candy canes and unicorns. I've been in the automotive trade for over 20 years, and now work for a used car dealership in CT that is expanding, and opening a facility in the Charlotte area. I am the wholesale buyer, I buy cars from the auction to be shipped north. I went there last tuesday and spoke to Chris (service writer) about repairing a car i had JUST purchased through auction a few days before that, which had already been diagnosed as having a bad water pump, and needing the serpentine belt (because the belt had shredded and only 1/2 was remaining). (Our shipper will NOT haul a car that has excessive fluid leaks, may damage other cars paint jobs) At that time, Chris was very pleasant, and I gave him copies of my business information, to open a wholesale acct so I could use them regularly for repairs on cars I had purchased through auction that needed repair, until our facility gets in operation. We set an appointment for Wed. I returned Wed morning, dropped the car and keys off, and went about my day. About an hour and a half later, I get a call from Chris, that his "ASE certified MASTER GM tech" assessed my car as needing a steering rack, having a bad head gasket, and the engine having no compression, as well as the tie rods ends being in dire need of replacing. As I had already had a mechanic friend just as qualified (he works in the garage of a NASCAR driver team as a car builder ASE certified and factory GM trained) look at the car, I asked that they just please replace the belt and the water pump, and I would also consider having them do the tie rod ends as well. Not even 5 minutes later, Chris calls me back, telling me that "the owner said" that they as a group REFUSE to work on my car, that they would not do any of the work. Surprised, I said ok, and asked if the could at least just put the serpentine belt on, so I could safely drive the car to another facility to have the work performed, to which he refused. So I drove over to the garage, went inside, and got my keys from Chris. No words exchanged. Later that night just as they were closing, I drove back over with my wife, and 3 children, so I could pick the car up, and bring it home. I got in the car, started it, and it started making ungodly noises, noises it never made at all up to when I brought it there. So i shut the car off, opened the hood, and noticed the 1/2 shredded serpentine belt which was tightly affixed on the ride to the garage, was now loose. No big deal, I had already purchased the belt, it was in the car. So I walked up to a gentleman standing in the bay door area, and asked to speak to the owner, to which this scraggly, bearded, very young (21-25 y.o.) man replied, that he was the owner, so I asked him why the belt was now loose on the car, and squealing, because it wasn't on the trip there. Had they taken it off, and it was so far gone that it had stretched? Not looking to place blame, just figure out why the sudden noises. Well IMMEDIATELY, the guy starts SCREAMING at me, that " you're a scumbag car dealer, you sell sh*tbox cars" and " I knew you would try to blame this on us, that car is **ckin junk, and you are a piece of sh*t!", then started trying to get physical, threatening to hit me, (keep in mind, my wife, and 3 young children are 15 feet from us watching this) and if I don't get off his property, he'll "get" me off his property. As now i am heated, we exchanged a few choice words, and I got in my car, and limped it home. So early the next morning, I pulled the car apart, and noticed WHY the belt was squealing. Well, Bailey's in their "professional diagnosis" never noticed that the 1/2 shredded belt was not straight on the pulleys, so sometime between when I dropped the car to them, and when they gave the car back, the belt had slipped off one of the directional pulleys, and was barely being held on by the over-extended belt tensioner. Most of the problems, were from the loose belt. The steering rack was locking up, and car was running hot, because the power steering pump, and water pump ARE RUN BY THE SERPENTINE BELT...but you are "GM MASTER TECHNICIANS" shouldn't they know that? Needless to say, new belt and water pump, and car runs perfect. (Which I replaced BY MYSELF) So,I returned the next morning, in the SAME car, and asked to get my business information back, which they no longer need, as I never plan to return, and they REFUSE to give me my tax id, and dealer license back! And this time, some kid that looks barely old enough to drive, gets mouthy with me, tells me HE'S the owner, and starts throwing up the middle finger. Really classy. They say that when I stated i would "shut them down" which i did, it was a threat. Well it wasn't, its a PROMISE. When Ceglarz Motors opens their facility in the months coming, we will SHUT YOU DOWN
