| - I've eaten here twice with friends & I always let them order because I'm no Thai food expert, but I know when stuff is tasty, and Archi's serves up some tasty food! I used to frequent the movie theater next door when I was a teenage hoodlum and remember when this place used to be some really crappy Americanized Chinese food place that always smelled like crappy Chinese food. I was really surprised it was the same place considering how cute & Thai-like the inside looked!
We've sampled their yellow curry, panang curry, beef and basil, pineapple fried rice, pad thai, pad kea mao, and papaya salad. My favorite is the panang curry! Omgosh, it was so delish, until I went home and checked out the calorie content. Panang curry typically has about 40-50g's of fat for one serving. Ouch! Well, anything with that much fat better be worth it, and I'd say that one serving of panang curry is worth it. Their pad thai is on the greasy side and kind of bland when you think about what's in it. I definitely prefer the pad kea mao because it has more veggies and tastes like basil (yum!!!) compared to what you'd get in pad thai with just bean sprouts & peanuts.
I did not enjoy the papaya salad. It was my first time trying it, but for $10, you get a "salad" that has a grated green papaya and this "dressing" that just tasted like fish sauce? Did they give us the wrong sauce? I don't know. Regardless, I will be back to Archi's! It has a cute ambiance with some delicious options. Definitely try the panang curry & pad kea mao!
