  • I was in need of some relaxation over Memorial Day weekend so I called Ming Foot Spa to see if they had any openings. A woman answered, who was very brief, but pleasant. She said there was availability, and "you want a male therapist, right?" And I said, well I prefer a female (thinking I would be receiving a full-body (but clothed) massage) and she replied "oh yes, whatever you prefer." Upon arriving, I first noticed a very nice, updated front lobby area. The place was clean and smelled nice. I was greeted by a man, presumably the manager (he later did mention he was the manager,) who was on a telephone call with a customer. He motioned for to me sit down so I did. Once he was done with the call, he showed me the reflexology menu and I browsed it. I chose the foot detox and foot massage combo. I asked him if the foot detox was the kind that you soak your feet in and then the water changes color based on what toxins your body is releasing. He confirmed. He led me to a back room, which was semi-private, but there were no partitions/curtains as I've experienced at other reflexology places around the valley. He made sure I was comfortable in the chair and the foot soak began. As he was leaving to let me relax, I asked him long the foot soak lasts, and he told me 30 minutes. I was a little surprised it was for so long, but I settled in and relaxed (albeit fighting off the usual urge to grab my phone and starting browsing around the interwebs.) Once the 30 minutes was up, he returned and flashed a flashlight into the foot bath. I could see the water was a gross brown color. He told me that everyone's water color is the same their first time. Interesting. Next, he began the foot massage portion. For the next 30 minutes, he massaged my calves and feet in a very gentle manner, I did not feel their much reflexology going on. He was touching different points, but i wasn't getting that tension release feeling I've felt on other occasions at a few different places. I was expecting more, such as some hand massage and scalp massage, but I guess this was not a part of the package I selected. My advice to the owner is to describe each of the services listed on the menu - exactly the parts of the body they address and how long each portion is. Had the menu had some descriptions, I most likely would have chosen a completely different service and perhaps enjoyed myself more. Pros: Manager was kind and professional. He offered a bottle of water as I walked to the massage area, a very nice touch. The place was clean, quiet (about as quiet as you can get for being located in a weird strip mall area and not having a door between the room and the lobby (although anyone in the lobby is unable to see you,) and presented a relaxing atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable and it included hot rocks. Cons: The menu was lacking descriptions - I wish it would have described each service and broken down the times, I probably would have chosen something else. An enjoyable but somewhat lackluster actual reflexology delivery. I'm sure each therapist has their own style/touch though, so it's kind of the luck of the draw. If there were half stars, I would add a half to my 2 stars.
