  • Overall, good, not great. I've had two experiences with Lux, one was a pedicure, the other a delux pedicure and gel manicure. I really do like what they do, but I don't LOVE it. I do prefer their pedicures to most other places, but got two completely different experiences the two times I went. The first time, she definitely took great care of my toe nails. They were shaped perfectly and the polish lasted without a single chip for 4 weeks! I can definitely admit to LOVING my toenails during that visit. The foot treatment fell short of my expectation though. my feet weren't scrubbed enough and I walked out with very rough spots. They exfoliate with the cheese grater looking things, and after the exfoliation, it was almost like I could see each layer that came off in the design of the grate. Overall, definitely a good pedi, I just wish my feet looked as good as my toes. The second time, I asked for a delux pedicure, but the technician didn't know this. She was giving me the basic pedicure until she went to put the toe separators on and I asked about the scrub. I mention this because the treatments were equal until this point. The cheese grater was heavenly this time. Don't get me wrong, I ABHOR the experience because I'm extremely ticklish, but my goodness was this worth it. My feet were so soft! The rest was an absolute delight with the scrub and mask - certainly worth the upgraded price. Now this time, the toes weren't as good as the first time. I picked a dark colour but the application was not precise and a little sloppy I must admit. I don't think my nails were buffed as much as they should have been because the polish isn't glossy either. Understand that I'm a little crazy though. The overall picture is great, I just wish for a little fine tuning. The gel manicure is a different story. I'm not a fan of anything other than the colour. First of all, I don't like when two people are working on me at the same time when I pre-book the appointment and there's no need for rushing. My hand is essentially in the air and not as stable as it should be for a precise manicure. The cuticle work was VERY basic and there was a lot of cuticle left behind even though I told her I like for them to be pushed back quite a bit. She would sometimes mean for the tip of the cuticle scissors to snip something off, but instead, I could feel the back snipping finger-skin instead. Not at all painful or anything, just not precise. Nail shaping was really rough. I had very short nails to start with, and she would file them down to nubs on some fingers, and leave some edge on others. Not consistent or flattering in any way. Then when it came to the actual colour, she was again not precise. Lots of polish around cuticles, polish doesn't start from base of some nails, wobbly edges...I mean, it doesn't really matter that they're not perfect, but it's just annoying because with light colours especially, as soon as you get some on the skin, the colour lifts in a matter of days. I'm on day 3, already visibly lifting. I wish they had actually sat me down at a manicure station where my hand would have been rested and more stable, and the technician could have been more precise with the work they did. Definitely going back, definitely like the service, just hope for a more consistency with pedicures and better manicures that can actually withstand 2 weeks of wear. I need to try a few different technicians before making an ultimate decision.
