Do people actually drive all the way up here to eat? This would be better if it was just a neighborhood joint, but it's certainly not worth driving up to the area to eat at, as the food is just ordinary and not amazing. There's so many other better places in town to go to, like Bagel Cafe and the Original Pancake House.
After confirming that the red velvet pancakes did not have beet juice for coloring but red food coloring, which has carmine dye in it that come from bugs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cochineal), my husband and I sampled the banana pancakes, and the bacon pancakes. All were bland in flavor, as the banana pancakes had very little banana, and my husband's bacon pancakes had just 3 tiny pieces of bacon in them. He was extremely underwhelmed and annoyed.
There were other little things that I found annoying. The potatoes were not that good and were riddled with seasoned salt. They looked like the egg works potatoes that I hate so much. I love big huge chunky pieces of real potato that is soft and velvety inside and crispy on the outside, like Beach Cafe does. Sausage was the same stuff I could have gotten at a cheap buffet and cooked in the same manner.
Overall just a very ordinary experience.
