After having flown numerous crummy Canadian airlines (not that hard to believe seeing the number of Canadian airlines still in business), it's definitely refreshing to see a small company like Porter do such a great job.
It may not have the fleet to service other parts of Canada or the US, but with what they do have they certainly utilize it to the max. They fly numerous flights a day on all the common East Coast business routes.
Everything you expect an airline to be they achieve. The moment you start dealing with Porter you'll find yourself falling in love with flying again.
They make flying cool again in a throwback to the halcyon days of flying, where pilots were rockstars. Even down to the sexy retro uniforms they do things right, they're respectable sexy with no sense of exploitation.
That's exactly how you'll feel you're being treated. You're a respected customer where they don't exploit the fact you're flying with them and start charging you extra for every little thing.
In fact, practically everything is free. From snacks to drinks (including alcoholic ones) to your checked bags.
Everyone is treated as if they're flying business or first class, with no special VIP treatment. You'll still feel like VIP though with free access to their lounge (if you're flying to or through Toronto) which is understated chic with free access to wifi and iMacs should you not have your own computer.
No funky deadlines for flight adjustments, nor are there any extra charges for adjusting my flight.
There are many large airlines that could really learn a few things from Porter. I bet you if they adopted some of these practices, they'd find a lot more customer loyalty.
