| - A fantastic Vietnamese restaurant right next to a giant T&T supermarket in southern Richmond Hill making the trip even more worthwhile. You can do your grocery shopping and get some fantastic take out.
Now, I've only been there a few times, and I've only ordered the beef noodle soup although I think my father ordered their chicken noodle won ton and he liked it. I have not had their vermicelli but I find that the most significant and revealing test for any restaurant is to taste their broth. If it is bad, they are cutting corners, lacking skill, etc.
I've eaten from Vietnamese restaurants from Barrie to Hamilton and everywhere in between hundreds of times. I've probably been to at least two dozen distinct restaurants, too. As far as Vietnamese restaurants in this area go, I've had a good sampling to compare this to.
Little Saigon has a delicious beef broth. Very likely one of the best I've had. It's full bodied, not overwhelmingly salty, and doesn't have any strange aftertastes (like some places that do not keep clean). Portions are good, prices are decent. If you want some Vietnamese food, this is an excellent place to go.
It's a small restaurant but I've never seen it packed so reservations are unnecessary. Extra points: The last time I went there, I had to slam on my brakes driving my Pho home and it fell over. Didn't leak! Bravo. I also walked in and ordered soup and received it in a few minutes.
Beware: They have a sign that says "Cash only". It's nothing fancy but offers some standard Vietnamese fare at low prices. Parking isn't too bad, either because of the giant plaza it is part of.
