  • So the first half of my review is a rant, the second is a pretty decent summary of my stay. RANT My first interactions with the employees were bad. Valet. I ask this clown if he can please keep my car there as I'll only be checking in and leaving quickly, he says something along the lines of "well if its here its here." Oh really? *mental note: don't tip him* I come back out in 7-8 minutes...its still there but hey guess what you're still not getting tipped. He throws me a sarcastic "thank you." Thanks to him I felt uncomfortable to valet and just self parked for my stay (yeah I know, diva me). I understand these might be contractors but regardless, be careful about who you have out there, the first face you see is just as important as everything else. The Front Desk Rep. I show up and this guy has a douche Johnny Bravo thing going for him. I check-in, he says room won't be ready for another hour...that's fine as it was before 3...then I ask him to confirm what room I'd be getting and in an assholish tone says that since I booked with another party (expedia) that he can't tell me yet. Hmm expedia though, I understand if I would of used some unreputable site like vegasforcheap.com or discountedrooms.com..but expedia, the almost 8 billion dollar revenue company, and the company that I paid extra with to get a specific room. It may be fine print but c'mon at least choose a different tone and set of words. It's just common courtesy. Then to make matters worse he held onto my ID and card as if I had gotten them fresh off the press at Los Pollos Hermanos. Then I notice the week after that I had a random charge, a small charge but a charge nonetheless. And considering I only used that card to pay for the room, it made me wonder. PRETTY DECENT SUMMARY Okay so the first 10 minutes I spent interacting with valet and the front desk were crap, like wow I'm about to go to a different hotel tonight bad, but the bellman gave me hope. I wish I would of gotten his name, he helped on my arrival and departure. Class act. Also when I picked up the keys, the gentleman at the front desk really made up for Johnny Bravo's unprofessional behavior. He even threw a "have fun at your show" when we made our way out later that night. It's the little things. We ended up getting the room we wanted. The room was what it promised in pictures, minus the professional editing that go on with pictures. Amenities appeared okay, I did not have time to wander the hotel. The Palms is an okay option. It's off strip but not further away from things than what the Mandalay Bay and Encore are, except the drive may be less exciting. If you're fighting between this and staying at an older strip hotel, stay here. Their newer rooms will get it done better than a moldy one at the Excalibur. Just hope that they've fixed that customer service inconsistency. They're more unpredictable than the girlfriends I had in high school. Oh yeah their in-room clothing iron sucks.
