| - Ever wonder why the same street in Charlotte changes names three times? Curious what life was like in North Carolina over 100 years ago? Want to know why there are so many flashing yellow left-turn signals in this city?
The Levine Museum of the New South holds all the answers to the first two questions! The third one, well, that's still a mystery to me and you won't find the answer at this museum. I went here one Sunday afternoon for a little southern education and there were a few things that were a pleasant surprise:
1. Half-priced admission. Um, yes please! I was totally ready to pay the $8 admission, but paying half was better.
2. This museum was not boring. I find many museums to be a total yawn. This one had a mix of films, interactive exhibits and reading history to keep me interested.
3. It was historical, but brought in some of the social, class and racial challenges in a concise way that brought you through over 100 years of history in about 90 minutes.
4. It wasn't freezing cold.
I won't recommend this place for little kids, but if you're parents are in town visiting, or you're just bored and looking for something to do, I would highly recommend this place. I feel like there is enough cool, interesting facts in this museum that you could totally rock Charlotte Trivia Night at a local bar.
