| - This review is for the men's clothing department. I stopped in with my wife to get a new suit and was "helped" by an older woman. I use helped in the loosest sense possible since she basically did nothing. I told her the size I was looking for, which is not an uncommon size, and she kind of made a quick pass through what they had available and handed me kind of an olive colored suit, which she said was the only option available, and then hemed and hawed over us for a few minutes as I decided whether I wanted to try it on as it wasn't really what I was looking for. I decided to spend a few minutes looking through the racks and, in about 2-3 minutes, had found stuff in the size I needed in pretty much all the other colors and styles they had available, including several she'd quickly thumbed through but clearly hadn't bothered to look at.
In any event, I tried on one I liked and it fit, and then we asked about tailoring as the jacket sleeves and pant legs were a touch too long. Apparently this Macy's (and maybe all Macy's, its been a while since I bought a suit from them) no longer do tailoring and, while they do send stuff out for alterations, she didn't want to do the measurements saying she "didn't trust herself" to do them. Its not like legs and arms are tough to measure and pin it was just completely obvious that she couldn't be bothered to do the measuring. I pondered just putting the suit back, but it was exactly what I was looking for and at a good price, so I went ahead and got it.
Overall, the service here was nothing short of abysmal. Its not that it was really rude, just out and out lazy. And shockingly so. It's too bad for this store really, as my wife and I have their upper tier black card (highest tier based on annual spend) and buy a LOT of stuff (clothes, home goods, etc) from Macy's but we won't be doing it at this store going forward.
