  • I took this once and would not take again. Unless you live on top of Union station, don't require further transit/cab and travel alone it's just not good use of time or money. I usually travel alone and I travel for long periods of time and so I travel heavy. Traveling heavy doesn't work well for the Union Person Express. I live in Leslieville so I had to take a taxi to union station which was $20.00 plus $27.50 for the express train, total $47.50. They actually charge a premium for non-transit (car owner) to discourage them from using the new system. I'm not sure of the logic in this. I would assume this is a "revenue tool" imposed by Kathleen Wynne. We know how creative she can be. I had to load my own luggage in and out of the cab, they just don't get out of their car for you. By the time I managed to get to get to Union Station it was over 38 minutes from my door and I was exhausted from dealing with my luggage. Then of course the time to get my Union Pearson ticket 10 minutes and the wait for the train another 10 minutes. Once on the train it took about 30 minutes to go from union station to the airport. The luggage was the biggest hassle (in and out of the cab and then to the platform, onto the train, off the train, then to the check in counter at the airport.. Total time 1:28 . Alternative: Uber from door to door and the Uber guy loads and unloads my luggage and has a newspaper and bottled water for me, total time 30 minutes and $15.00 Cheaper over all. Door to Door service and no hassles dealing with luggage. If I traveled with a friend Uber would have been even better deal at half the cost (shared expense) the "new Union Pearson for two would be $27.50 more (pushing $80 for two). (I have a hard time calling an out of date diesel train new). Uber $32 for two or Union Pearson Express $80 for two. Do the math. $50 cheaper to take door to door first class service with Uber. Uber represents free market. We pay too much with monopolies like taxi and LCBO etc... I'm not sure who would take Union Pearson express. Any couple would do better taking Uber or a broken down smelly cab. Executives will either fly into the Island airport or take a limo from Pearson. I guess if you live across the street from Union Station it would be good, otherwise I don't see the point. If you live north of King Street, take the subway or Uber it to the Airport. More than one person traveling share an UBER and save time and significant money. The good old provincial liberal Kathleen Wynne and city counsel took another good idea and found a way to make it wrong. Lets make sure we elect them all again. Am I alone in this thought?
