I was lucky to have a Jelly Modern Doughnut while at work- someone brought in a dozen grab & go ($24.95)... She cut them into 1/4s so we could all try a little bite of each one...
Those individual bites were very memorable because I ended up walking over to Lower Mount Royal that same weekend to buy my own dozen! This isn't your Tim Horton or Krispy Kreme doughnut! It's fun-loving gourmet at its best!
There are 3 main doughnuts styles: Hand-dipped, hand-filled and cake (2.25$ each). There is a lot of selection and tasty toppings/ flavor combos. My personal favorites:
- Nenshi's salted caramel is sweet, salty and the cake is light
- Maple bacon; I love the glaze with the salty bacon bits- it's just like the best parts of breakfast on a doughnut!
- Carrot cake: Very moist with a delicious cream cheese frosting and fried carrot shavings. I find that their cake-style doughnuts are a lot denser especially with thick frosting on top.
There is a lot of selection, but on a weekend, you should arrive before noon to get the best selection before they run out of their best sellers!
They're open at 7am on weekdays which is convenient. I like to treat my co-workers by buying coffee for twelve and a dozen doughnuts (about $44) once in awhile! Napkins, creamers and recycled cutlery included. Their website has a full pdf menu that would probably satisfy birthday parties to larger business meetings.
Jelly Modern Doughnuts has given me another reason to continue running every day... Thanks Jelly for adding a little more sweet indulgence in my life;-)
