Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat. a. BUMMER.
Man, I really, really wanted to like this place! I had been wanting to experience it since it opened and was so excited to finally dine here for my 29th birthday but it was a bad experience beginning to end.
First, against what had been requested, we were seated in a very odd area which seemed to be out of sight. It was extremely hard to get anyone's attention. We had questions regarding items on the menu and the waiter-- not sure if he working a double or just having a bad day-- was very rude and passive aggressive. We asked a question and point blank he asks "Well what does the menu say?" Hmm. We know what the menu says but I'm sorry, I'm not a Chef. If I were and had an idea what every single item on the menu meant I wouldn't be asking.
We ordered the carpaccio but asked if the carpaccio could be placed on the side since my friend is vegan. He said absolutely. It wasn't...it was actually placed underneath the salad and some pieces in between the lettuce and she wasn't able to enjoy it. Then it took about 15 minutes for anyone to come back so that we can order more drinks and place our food order. Again, my friend reiterated that she does not eat meat and I specified that I am allergic to fresh mint. We also asked that our spaghetti flights be cooked thoroughly...neither ones of us a fan of al dente (spelling? again, not a chef!) pasta. One of the pasta dishes was beef when we were told it was mushroom and though the basil in my pasta wasn't MINT, it took 10 minutes to get the waiter's attention to make absolute sure I wouldn't die if I bit into it. Did I mention I'm not a chef???
It felt like one hassle after another and now I can see why I've heard people say that this place is overrated. I wouldn't pay to dine here again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone based on my experience. I'm sure others have had a blast here. Unfortunately for us, my 29th birthday dinner was a bust.
