The Experience: We went to five different dealerships in the area before we spotted the Hertz Car Sales sign from the road. We were really just looking to see what deals were out there. We had specific needs for this car and initially looking at their lot I wasn't sure we would find much.
They actually have a lot more selection then it looks! Plus they offer a service where you can tell them the car you're looking for, they will call you when it's close to the end of the contract. You can test drive it for an extended period before buying while it finishes it's rental contract, and then buy it!
We worked with Jeffery. He's a Veteran, a family man, and hes always got some snacks stashed in his desk! Haha. We told him our limit, and our wish list, and he took us on a guided tour of all the vehicles that matched what we were looking for. He was refreshingly honest, patient, has a great sense of humor, and he looked up all the info on the cars we were interested in. Does this one come with a manufacturers warranty? Is it trail rated? Does it have a stock hitch we can buy? He really was the reason why we stuck around. I was a bit frustrated with the apathetic attitudes and canned answers like: "just look online and call me" that I was getting from the other places... like I was wasting their time. But Jeffery made us feel like we were a priority. He definately earned our business.
My husband found a 2015 Dodge Journey they hadn't finished checking in yet and LOVES it! We got it for UNDER KBB and Edmunds value. (I checked on my phone while I was there.) When Jeffery says they don't really function like a car dealership, he means it! Hertz has some awesome deals, and plenty of selection with vehicles under 30k mileage.
We met Justin, the Finance Manager. He pulled our credit and came out to consult with us on the best way to get a great offer on an auto loan. We took his advice and ended up getting a GREAT rate! He's got several large banks and a wide range of credit unions to chose from, so if you're looking to shop the loan yourself, it's a good idea to call and ask Justin what finance options he already has.
Finally, we purchased our vehicle! It was quick, and easy. I felt at ease because they really did all the work for us and were impeccably transparent about the process. The best part is we got a GREAT deal, so no matter how long we keep it or if we refinance it a few years down the line, it will be so much easier because the price we paid is under the value of the car.
I've been to tons of dealerships in the past, and I've never felt like any of them were a place I could keep buying the rest of our cars from... but I feel that way about Hertz. They really made us feel like we were family, and we plan on buying our next cars from them, too.
