We had a 25+ year old electric hot water heater that was probably on borrowed time and definitely sucking up electricity, so I was in the market for proactively replacing it before problems arose. There is no easy way to vent a gas water heater in the installation location, so I had my mind set on a hybrid heat pump water heater to cut back on energy consumption and lower the operating costs.
After extensive internet research on heat pump water heaters and shopping around for local plumbing and mechanical companies, I made the decision to go with a GE Geospring hybrid heat pump water heater, and gave Todd a call to set up a time for an estimate. Todd came out within 2 hours of my call to measure the space to make sure a Geospring would fit into the location. He also provided some literature on the unit. Based on my earlier research, the pricing offered by Todd was very competitive, so I scheduled the installation on the spot for first thing the next morning.
The next morning, Todd arrived a few minutes ahead of schedule. He got set up and began draining and removing the old water heater. He had the new one installed with all new piping in short order. He mentioned he was from a long line of plumbers and that he loved plumbing work. It shows because his work is neat and tidy. He fired up the Geospring and we've been happy ever since.
I waited a bit to put in this review because I wanted to comment on the energy I have saved with this newly installed water heater. My electric bills are about 20-25% less than before. Also, Todd was excellent in providing additional and copies of receipts and invoices in order to submit for for rebate and for the tax deduction for this water heater. If your in the market for a new water heater or just need a fix for the one you currently have, I would highly recommend giving Todd a call.
