I had a free night coming to me from an older program that rewarded points for staying multiple nights. I booked the free night and then booked 5 more nights at the advertised rate which was on a sale. I was advised that I could not do that as it was called "doulble dipping" and somehow taking advantage of the program. They said I would have to pay the "regular" rate for additional nights if the two separate reservations were "back to back". This would have completely negated the value of the free night- several times over. I asked to check with management and after several minutes and discussions, they said that would be ok this one time. The agent made me feel like some type of a cheater and low life. I took the free night and canceled the extra 5 nights.
I booked the 5 nights on the strip, paying way more the "regular" rate at the Nugget. I looked back at my calender and determined my family ,friends, and I stayed at the Nugget 35 nights prior to this over the last 12 months, all booked by me.
What a great way to build customer loyalty. Since this incident I have been back to Las Vegas another 5 nights and have another 7 next month. Never again at the Golden Nugget.
