  • I used to come to NEWBURY when I lived in Calgary. I always had a wonderful experience but this time was horrible. When my manicurist came to retrieve me from the public waiting area, she did not help me with my things and basically had me follow her to some room. When I entered the cold room, there was no music or any form of tranquility. The girl started to work on my nails. Due to the dry air of Calgary, my nails were in desperate need of cuticle work. I pointed out several times to the the manicurist that she needed to revise her work and she mentioned that it was live skin and she could not cut it. I have had my nails done for over 17 years and I believe I know what my cuticles are. I had to call the owner in because after the girl refused to cut the cuticles, the owner came in and mentioned that maybe I was only going to "Asian nail places." I mentioned that I was from Miami and usually go to Bliss spa based out of the W. Not sure why that made a difference but it was completely inappropriate. I left with my cuticles and polish looking like crap. The manicurist did not clean the edges and the paint is all over the nail and skin. I will never go back. My boyfriend's 8 year old daughter has provided me with better manicures. I think NEWBURY has changed ownership. Sad to watch one of my favorite places in Calgary turn to such a dismal experience.
