| - Well, I was really excited about this show. I thought that I would go and come out totally jolly and in the Christmas spirit.
Boy, was I wrong. Maybe I am just a grinch, because many people were giving a standing ovation at the end of the performance, but I was just bored.
The orchestra and music was amazing. However, the videos, lights and "dancers" are not. Acrobats and holiday music DO NOT go together. I feel like this show would have been fantastic if it would have just focused on the music and the artists performing the music. The violinist was amazing! They should definitely focus on her more and let her have more solos. I did not understand why there was any kind of breakdancing, cart wheeling, etc. Also, most of the videos that accompanied the songs looked like they were borrowed from the 80s.
Also, many people in the theater brought kids to the show. It is a 90 minute performance, in the dark.....I guess they thought because it is "holiday music" that it would be appropriate for children? At one point a kid yelled "turn the lights on" over and over again. At another point and young kid was screaming for his dad. Come on, people. Nobody is paying for that.
If you go to this show, I would suggest buying VIP tickets. The theater entrance is on the 2nd level, and there is only 1 staircase that leads up to it. If you have VIP tickets, they allow you to enter downstairs. Much easier. Getting out was a different story....it was like herding cattle. Many people left the show early, they were the smart ones.
I am sorry to say, but I feel as if I am being generous by giving 3 stars to this review. I don't even feel like buying a Christmas tree at this point. This is like the poor 3rd cousin to the Trans Siberian Orchestra.
