  • We went for their New Year's Eve "package" which was 1 night, dinner for 2, DJ party (cash bar) & breakfast for two. Let's start w/ the "resort" -- it's a little sad & rundown (1 star). They've repaired the green indoor/outdoor grass on the steps w/green duct tape, the Christmas decorations were unlit & sparse (i.e. oversize silver ball hanging from the light fixtures) & the windows were extremely dirty...everything just felt grungy....NOT rustic. And they have certainly taken liberty using the word resort in their name as there are no amenities here unless you count 4 video games tucked into the stairwell (NO elevator). We never could get the wifi to work either. The lodge portion (essentially the lobby) is small with a small fireplace with 1 low sofa, 2 chairs & a bench around it. Not the vision I had for stopping by after skiing to sip hot cocoa....just too small, uncomfortable & uninviting as people meander around checking in, going to the restaurant, etc. The room -- it was adequate (2 stars). Clean for the most part (1 stained/dirty towel) with what looked like fresh paint, a flat screen TV & furniture that was newer-ish (so no dings/dents in the wood & no stains on the chair). TV reception was limited w/ bad sound on & off as you flipped channels. And normally it wouldn't have mattered but I ended up w/ a hellacious stomach bug & spent the evening in the room instead of the party. The rooms are VERY NOISY ... we could hear the TVs of the rooms next to us & heard every step & stumble the people above us made...VERY annoying!! Also, it would have been nice to have a small fridge & microwave in the room for bottled water (ginger ale!) or leftovers from our dinner. The restaurant -- the dinner (4stars) was better than average. Our spinach salads were a hodge podge of spinach, blueberries, pine nuts, strawberries & cherry tomatoes. It was good, but sort of an odd combination of ingredients. The stuffed prawn appetizer was served chilled so not appetizing but the chicken caprese salad was decent. My husband's steak (bone in ribeye) was cooked well done when he ordered medium rare. Our waitress took it back w/ much apology...the replacement was perfect. His sides were scalloped potatoes (yummy!) & spinach (a wilty mess). I had sea bass oscar w/ wild mushroom wild rice & asparagus. Even though I was afraid to eat much, I sampled everything and it was all delicious. The dessert was definitely the hit of the night -- a yummy molten chocolate lava cake. It had a crispy edge & super moist creamy interior. The breakfast (1star) was the other end of the yummy spectrum w/ icky powdered scrambled eggs that had odd brown areas throughout, potatoes too dry to eat, fruit that was a few days past it's prime (tasted fermented...I had to spit it out!) & the muffins were dry & bland. The bacon rated ok & the oatmeal was definitely the star of breakfast. As far as ambience (2 stars), the dining room was a tad dingy w/ horrendously dirty carpet!! Although we felt rushed through dinner (which I kinda understand since they had two seatings), the overall service (3 stars) at both meals was good w/ just the right amount of attentiveness. As far as value ($360) they get zero stars. Definitely could have stayed on the strip for the same & had a better time (even not leaving the room!). We satisfied our curiosity & don't need to go back.
