| - This review is really for Cox Communications, in general.
I've had so many issues with them within less than a year that I cancelled my two year contract and was happy to pay the cancellation fee!
The guy who came to set up my TV, phone and internet was super nice and informative and things were okay for awhile but then things just started going downhill.
A little before Super Bowl 50, we received letters and emails from Cox stating that they were having issues with another company that was threatening to not let Cox customers watch the Super Bowl but not too long before the game, we were informed that everything was settled and that customers can watch the game just fine... I used to live in a state where hurricanes and heavy rainfall happened a lot which caused TV boxes to freeze and turn off but not as bad as Cox did during the Super Bowl.
My favorite was that they would constantly add little charges to my bill and if I called to ask what it was, they'd say something that made no sense and take the charge off.
Or when I moved into my new apartment, they offered to have a guy come and "set everything up" AKA plug things into the wall. They never said anything about a charge but ended up charging me $150. The funniest part is the guy didn't set up ANYTHING correctly lol
I called them up, they made up some silly excuse and took the charge off. Then they had to send another guy to fix my internet because the first guy did more bad than good. The second guy was super nice and made fun of the first guy who didn't do a thing so I guess that's a plus.
But after I was just tired of the stupid charges, I went to cancel my contract with Cox. The night before, I called Cox because I had another random charge on my bill and since their department that deals with cancelling was closed, I had to call back the next day but asked the woman on the phone about the early termination fee that I would have to pay. To my surprise, she told me that I was good and wouldn't need to pay one. When I called the next day, the guy said I did have a fee and when I asked why the lady the night before said I had no charge, he never really explained. I was on the phone with the guy for about 45 minutes and got nothing done. He kept trying to not let me cancel, he said he would deactivate my services for a fee in case I changed my mind about cancelling (which really got me annoyed because i was trying to get away from all these silly fees and just be done with Cox), and he was just beyond rude. It was such a hassle and absolutely ruined my day that I just hung up the phone and called another day to cancel because the guy was an idiot lol. I even emailed corporate or some higher up department about my experience on the phone and saying I needed help getting all of this figured out because it didn't look like there was an end to this craziness... I never received an email back. Good job guys :)
And last but not least, I was told I needed to post my last month's bill and the termination fee. I was told I could pay the months bill one month and the termination fee the next month. A week or two after being told that, I'm receiving emails left and right that my payment is overdue and the amount I owe sky rocketed. I called ONCE AGAIN! The last Cox representative I spoke with was nice and had things fixed, which I really appreciated but I just don't understand how a company can try to be so sneaky with random charges and so rude to your customers. So glad I'm done with Cox and I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy lol
