  • When I first moved to Phoenix, this dental practice was recommended to me by my employer. While I have no problem with the work they performed, I often question how much of the work done was absolutely necessary. I went a few years without dental insurance when I was in graduate school and paid the price, both with my wallet and with my dental health. I needed a couple of root canals, although whether or not those were actually necessary, I'm not entirely sure. I remember one occasion where, I came in complaining of a dull ache on my bottom-left side, although the dentist wasn't able to pinpoint exactly what was causing it. Nor was he able to determine which tooth was the culprit. It then became almost a guessing game of sorts - trying to figure out which tooth to perform a root canal on. It's almost as if they didn't want to explore the least intrusive possibilities first and immediately jumped to the most extreme (and expensive) solution. The dentist then semi-joked with me that: "Although we want you to have more root canals, you probably don't." Yeah, probably not the best joke to make to a patient when it involves a lot of money. I'm sure their staff has rotated a bit since I used to go there, so experiences may vary. I have no complaints about the quality of the actual work performed. I still have my two crowns that have held up nicely over time. However, I've since found a dental office where I feel a little more comfortable about trusting their treatment recommendations.
