| - Thank you Yelp for directing me to another great coffee shop. I'll go to Starbucks for my java if I'm in a hurry, but I prefer indie shops when I have time to sit and chat with friends.
My friend and I met at the corner of Yonge and King to begin our King East/Corktown Crawl. It was beautiful on Sunday so we decided to walk to Tandem - a great walk with a lot to see en route to TC that I would highly recommend getting off at King Station and not take the streetcar eastbound. When you walk in, you're greeted by friendly staff. I really like the feel to the place; you feel like you're walking into a friend's house that also happens to be a coffee shop (if this makes sense ... ). As other Yelp'ers have mentioned, the wall of plants found in the back of the shop is pretty cool. They offer your usual espresso based drinks, but also have pretty cool coffees and teas. I had an Americano, but would like to try their yuzu ginger tea next time. I wouldn't go to Tandem on an empty stomach and expect to get a generous meal, but they have a number of tasty (looking) treats. Since I had a big lunch, I just got my drink, but my friend had their gluten-free chocolate loaf. Again, for next time, I'd like to try something - the cat shortbread cookie was pretty cute. Price wise, I found it to be comparable to Starbucks.
Can't wait to return.
Good for: coffee, espresso based drinks, teas, snacks
