| - We come to Scottsdale every year for Spring Training. This year we opted to stay closer to the stadium, and chose this hotel. Suffice to stay, this is not a great place to stay. Older building with only 2 elevators causing a long delay to get anywhere without a long wait. The elevators, once you finally get one, are slow and airless. Room was clean and of a good size, mattress comfy, pillows like granite. Unfortunately, the a/c is so loud that we were awakened with each on and off cycle. And, not much soundproofing--we knew exactly what our neighbors were doing. Not sure who this hotel caters to. One would think that in Scottsdale, they would at least provide drinking glasses. Nope. No glasses in the room. Period. Styrofoam is king at this hotel. Bring your own water and wine glasses.
Beware--this hotel does not provide an in-room safe. If you are like us, our jobs are crazy, and we travel with 3 phones, a laptop, and 2 tablets, so this hotel is a pain in the ass if you had planned on stashing everything before going to the game. There are safety deposit boxes behind the front counter, but they are very small and will not hold a laptop, let alone a tablet.
Food and drink: The hotel restaurant is located in the lobby...literally in the lobby's open space. Buffet style breakfast (standard fare which would typically be free at other hotels) and anemic coffee. After our first game, we came back to the hotel and thought we would check out the bar. The bar is really a room off the pool area with furniture so lame that a pop-up bar would have had more vibe. The adjacent pool area is small. And beware again--their is an outdoor game that results in loud banging noises in the bar. Caveat emptor.
