| - It has taken me sometime to think about what I'm going to post about Allied Surplus. I have bought a few items here and being in the military, it has helped me perform my job. With that, I rarely ask if businesses do Military discounts. Usually the time I ask is when I'm going to purchase a pricey item which is most often, buying military gear such as boots, packs etc. and if a business does, I show a lot of gratitude and appreciation for their support. I was going to purchase a couple of items here and as I was about to check out, I asked if they did military discounts and I was answered with a question, "Are you active duty?". I responded I'm Active National Guard (As in I attend all my scheduled training) and I was told they do not give discounts for National Guard Members, Only Active Duty Military. I want to make it clear, the money isn't an issue. At the counter, I decided not to purchase my items and decided to go to a different store to purchase my 5.11 gear from a store that supports active duty members, national guard members and reserve of all branches. My blood is red as my battle buddies who are active duty but apparently at this surplus, it seems we're different. I use to recommend all national guard, marine reserve, army reserve, navy reserve and air guard members to come to this store in the east valley because if you think about it, there isn't any active duty military bases reasonably near by to go to a PX. Closest is Luke AFB and Fort Huachuca. The owner of Allied Surplus has the God given right to run his/her business the way he/she wants and I respect that, but for now on I will recommend my battle buddies to go to a different store.
