Uno's is known for its deep dish pizza. Great buttery crust and chunky tomato sauce. I've been to the original in Chicago and liked their food even though I'm a NYC style thin crust guy. But, I don't live in a rut so I eat around.
This week I hit up a movie at AMC at the Arizona Center and we went for Pizza and Beer afterwards. It was 7:30 on a Saturday night. You would think the place would be crazy busy. Nope. There were about three tables outside and four inside. So upside, no waiting.
They have a menu that offers something for everyone, even lobster sliders! I was tempted but we went for the usual deepdish with everything on it. We started on our beer, which was nice and fresh, and expected to wait about 20 mins for our pizza.
About 10 mins later it came, browned cheese on top just like I like it, and we dug in. Cold. A fresh cold pizza? Then it struck us, this is exactly what happened to us last time we were here. We didn't get a fresh pizza, we got a warmed over pizza that had been sitting somewhere waiting for the next sucker to order one.
We but our slices back in the pan and sent it back - and the waitress was nice about it, and it came back 5 mins later with a hot top but still cold inside. The waitress told us these were made to order but no way.
I don't know how they run the kitchen back there but they do not make their product fresh to order. Not even when there's no rush on.
Avoid this place like the plague - everyone else seems to. Why pay $18 bucks for a cold pre-made pizza when there's so many other options.
