| - I just want to express how LUCKY I feel to have this supermarket in my hood.
To all ye Queen West chilliheads, and Parkdale residents in poorly insulated apartments, desperate for warmth: know that this grocery store has a veritable treasure trove of esoteric spicy condiments!
On my last visit, I noticed that they were selling Mrs. Renfro's Ghost Pepper Salsa for $4.69, and vowed to come back to pick one up. Today was that day, and whilst browsing I also happened upon a lone jar of Naga Morich pickle in the Indian Chutney/ pastes section (the Naga Morich is one of the spiciest peppers in the world, closely related to the Ghost Pepper.) Of course, I bought both.
Also, they carry El Yucateco hot sauces, which are some of the best (including the XXXtrahot Kutbil-ik de sauce.)
They also carry one of my favorite fried snacks: Green Chutney flavored Masala Munch. I was going to grab a bag, but instead opted for Masala Lay's, which I'd not seen before (tasty!)
They have pretty much every variety of ethnic food in this store, including hand-made frozen Momos (Tibetan/Nepalese dumplings) which I also plan on buying at some point. Mae Ploy curry pastes (a staple.)
Their produce section is also formidable, and on my way out I balked at the packages of 4 ripe avocados for 99 cents which I'd missed on my way in.
I was even shocked to see that they carried Portuguese custard tarts! Though upon trying them, I suggest avoiding (they're overpriced, and not very good. Go to Brazil Bakery on Dundas West if you want the good shit.)
All in all, i'm lovin' this place!
