| - I'll preface this by saying I've worked in bakeries before. I know what an in house, from scratch donut is and what a shipped frozen donut that is reheated in the store looks and tastes like. This is the latter. It's not necessarily a terrible thing, almost every retail bakery does this. It's a matter of your taste preferences. I personally don't like them.
The other disappointing thing about this place is that there's only one kind of donut. If you eat or scrape off all the toppings, it's the same vanilla cake style donut under every pile of toppings.
Most bakeries have yeast raised, chocolate cake, vanilla cake, and sour cream donuts and different fillings and flavors in the donut itself. This place is all vanilla cake all day. It's another matter of taste preference. If you like that one type of donut and only that type of donut, this place is for you. I like variety but even in that variety I prefer yeast over cake donuts.
If every donut is identical, you're really paying quite the premium for different toppings, most of which you can buy yourself.
You can basically recreate these at home if you go to the grocery store and buy pre-made vanilla cake donuts, icing, and breakfast cereals or whatever topping you like.
For as long as the lines are and as expensive as the final donut product is, it's simply not worth it to me.
