I got a pedicure but while he was trimming my toenail, he yanked off a chunk. I said "ow" when he started and he kept going despite my verbally stating I was in pain (I said it a couple times, louder each time). He was using the cuticle clippers as pliers to pull on an ingrown part of the nail. Then he handed me the skin he pulled off like it would make it better to show me. To fix the bleeding he used a bottle of some blue liquid, placing the tip directly on my cut skin. The bottle was essentially empty, so what kind of contamination did it have? How many cuts was the tip put into before? When I asked if it was sterile he looked at me, looked at the bottle, shrugged, and put the cap back on. I have received many pedicures but I've never been made bleed before.
After the bleeding stopped, he continued with my deluxe pedicure, including the hot stone massage which lasted maybe a minute. He applied 0 pressure and put minimal effect into the massage, which is my favorite part and why I pay the extra $$.
When I got home I was cleaning the cut with peroxide (because I'm paranoid about infection now) and managed to mess up the paint. Which is okay because the toe nail design I paid the extra $5 for looked like my 4 year old niece did it. I wasn't going to get one but the lady handed me the design sheet and was like "want one". If your tech can't do the designs don't push them on your customers. I would rather repaint it myself than go back.
UPDATE: less than a week later my GEL polish is chipped and peeling. The only reason I get gel is because it doesn't chip as easily.
