I wanted to take a moment to update my review since several things happened after I posted it.
At approximately 7:45 last night I received a call from the installer of our opener. He was very upset about the review...he said the owner had called him and threatened to fire him if he did not get the review changed. And then he went on to tell me that he has a new baby at home and he can't be fired. He YELLED at me, telling me he did nothing wrong and I need to change the review or the owner was going to fire him. This harassment went on for a few minutes until I told him to have to owner call me. The review wasn't even about the installer.
Well, the owner did not call...but a supervisor did. He assured me that the installer was not going to be fired and that he is one of their best installers, and how great their company is, and on and on about how great their YELP reviews are.
YELP is how I chose this company, and how I choose to share my story now. What happened was bad enough but now I get a harassing phone call from the installer....And I fear that they are going to do something to my property because they know where I live!!!!! WHAT KIND OF COMPANY DOES THIS??*************************************************************************
While it is still fresh...I just had United Garage Door out to take a look at my garage door. ACTUALLY, they were supposed to be here yesterday but THEY called to reschedule and said they would give us 10% off for the inconvenience. Stuff happens , even though I made sure to rearrange MY day to be home, we were understanding and appreciative of discount... So far nothing that would warrant any negative response. OK...so here is the problem. Since the day was changed, by them, I was not able to be there at the time they could come so my husband got off early to meet the technician. He said the motor was burnt out and we needed a new everything. The charge was $550.00 which I would never had agreed to....but I was not there because they switched the day! I was the one that did all of the research so my husband had no idea what a rip off that was. When I arrived home the tech was working on starting the installation. My husband told me how much they were charging us and I went right to the tech and told him that was too much could he do any better...He said no and that he(my husband)agreed to the price and I have already started to job. Well, I felt as though there was nothing that I could do so the tech kept on installing.
When the tech was done he said that we owe $500.00, they had honored the 10%off, but we went to use our credit card and he says that will be an extra 3% fee. I told him to hold on a minute and called the company. The gentleman that answered the phone at United Garage Door agreed that it is " company policy" to charge a 3% fee and not tell the customer until after the install is complete.
I am so sorry we did not call another company. The garage door is working, but if this is how they run their business, I anticipate we will be having problems in the future!
