Great location! Right smack dab in the middle of the strip but not the hotel you want to stay at if you have issues with smoke and pets. Even in the non-smoking room you can smell it. It's everywhere and you can't get away from it. Apparently I am extremely sensitive to it because I could barely breath, sleep or walk without coughing up a lung the entire time we were there.
Our first night was the noisiest of our 3 night stay. They gave us a king bed on their pet-friendly 3rd floor with the option to move the next night. We checked in a little after midnight so our options were pretty limited. Our room was decent enough. It looked recently updated, and had views of a garden and fountain area that older people used for sunbathing. EWWWW! We kept the curtains closed. The noise came from the cricket in our room. We heard it all night and in the morning, I found it on the bathroom floor, and with the help of my flip flop, it went to cricket heaven where it could no longer bother anyone trying to get a good night sleep.
We were able to move the following day to a room on the 10th floor. You could still smell the smoke in our non-smoking room. It is an older hotel and it was like the smell permiated thru the HVAC system of the hotel, so there was no truly non-smoking room.
The room itself was okay. Bathroom and bedding were recently updated and with the exception of the 3 a.m. drunk girl cackle, our neighbors were pretty quiet and respectful. I have to say that even the bed was comfortable!
Check in and check outs were extremely easy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location, you can't beat. But why the one star? Harrah's really has to break down and spend some money on a new ventalation system. You shouldn't been smelling smoke everyone you go, and especially not in the "non-smoking" rooms.
Won't stay here again, even if the location is great.
