I first learned about Rico's Acai at a Yelp event probably over a year ago. They really did us well at the event. I thought for sure they might be kicking it up a notch to try and build a following. I was wrong. That quality has held through to now.
This little acai trailer located conveniently just a step out of Plaza Midwood is perfect. Plenty of space and secluded perfectly from the jam and jive right there on the other side of the bridge. You can step away from booze and fried food for a rejuvenating bowl o' goodness. I love the rainbow bowl - rows of strawberry, mango, pineapple, kiwi and blueberry lie across a pile of sliced bananas, frozen acai and granola. I've yet to find a sweet treat SO delicious that doesn't make me feel like a worthless pile o' crap after consuming it. This stuff is amazing!
They don't seem to get much attention here though. It's a shame considering how great they are. But I imagine most folks can't bring themselves to pay $10 for a small bowl of this. (I think acai is actually pretty expensive stuff by itself, never mind all the fresh fruit.) Even for me it sort of falls into the luxurious indulgence category. If they were getting slammed though, the parking lot they're in here could handle it at least.
