I must say it was a big dissapointment.
Little bit of background before I start my review- my mom is from England, my family owned a British Pub (in the states) till I was a teenager, and the last time I had bangers and mash was in England.
Driving up to it is a little weird, the entrance is in the back of all the buildings.
Atmosphere- it was a little dark abut had a cute little pub vibe.
Staff- very friendly, but for it being pretty empty on a Thursday night waiting 10 mins to refill out drafts was a little much.
Food- Started with pan seared goat cheese fritters which were pretty good but I believe the pan needed to be cleaned. The best way I can describe it was that the outside had a pancakey taste. We also got the Irish potato pancakes which were the best thing we ate all night. I ordered the bangers and mash for my main course. They had it down as a plate to share? It just seems odd to me. It came with a side of peas (just as Mom would have served it). I wanted to like it but something was off. There was a curry type flavor to the gravy which did not pair well with the bangers which were just not what I was used to. My friend got the Shepards pie which was not the shepherds pie I am used to. Who knows my mom might just be a terrible cook. This was like stew with a thin layer of extra crispy mashed potatoes on top. The way to describe the taste was scortched. The stew like base just had this burnt taste to it. Mom always has a heap of mashed potatoes in hers so it never gets to where it's more of a crouton than a mashed potato....
Needless to say we skipped dessert.... I couldn't dare run the chance of them ruining apple pie for me!
I'm hoping it was just a bad night in the kitchen. My friend had been there a few times before and said the place is hit or miss, based on the reviews I'd say that's right.
