| - I really like this gym. My buddy and I were going to Edge Fitness across the street before and Snap is so much better! We were looking for a gym that is clean, not overcrowded, and that has enough variety in equipment.
With a 1 year contract, I am paying $29 a month, which is a lot more than some of the other gyms. I feel like the extra money spent gets more equipment than the $10 gyms, but it is all about crowd control. Not as many people want to pay that kind of money, so there is a good atmosphere with plenty of room to do what you come to do. Over at Edge, we were constantly fighting for time on equipment.
The gym smells good. Somehow, it doesn't reek of sweat and nether regions. I think the staff does a good job on the upkeep. No problems here with the maintenance of the equipment. There is 24-hour access and after 10 pm (when I like to workout) there are usually only 3 or 4 people in there. I have been in at peak times and the crowd is still very small.
They have some cool equipment like the Jacob's Ladder, a ladder-climbing cardio machine. Treadmills and elliptically like crazy. Only one stair climber, 2 bikes and one rowing machine. That's pretty much where they lose a star. But, usually it's not an issue because there isn't much competition for the machines. They have a couple punching bags and they have a big assortment of resistance machines. They also have a tower with cables and a large choice of attachments. Not many kettle bells... I think there is an assortment of 4 bells. They have a large range of dumbells... 5lbs to 120 lbs. A couple squat racks. 6 assorted benches. So, overall it's a great selection of things. There is a spray tan booth as well that you pay extra for. Free wifi. They are usually playing rock music.
I wish they had classes. They don't have any room for classes, but I would like to go to a regular class that would help me get in more regular cardio.
So at $30 a month, you are paying for less of a crowd and a higher quality gym than the value guys. However, it doesn't have the classes, pools, or other frilly amenities that LVAC or 24 hour fitness. But for me, the short 5 minute drive it takes to get there is worth it rather than going to a sub-par place across the street and the 30 minutes it would take to get to the closest LVAC.
