The facilities and basketball program are great. The kids club is not. I quit going to this gym due to the kids club and when I quit, the gym manager basically told me to not let the door hit me on my way out. This club needs to get over itself. I spoke with the ineffectual kids area program manager numerous times and his program is fluff and promises are empty. They run the huge TV 24/7 to mute the kids and refuse to turn it off. I wouldn't think that other parents, who are fitness minded, want their kids to veg while they work out but maybe I am wrong. This club does not promote an active lifestyle to our children. They are understaffed and there are many isolated areas that present a high risk for inappropriate things to happen. Not only with staff. The big kids are mixed in with babies and toddlers and there is no adherence to the stated policies by staff. The final straw for me was how the Scottsdale club refused to protect it's member's children in child pornography. One of their employees was arrested for inappropriately videoing children at the gym while he was working. Many of the valley Lifetime clubs have been cited by DHS for various violations including: incomplete staff files and lacking valid fingerprint clearance cards for some employees. Shame on them! Jason Thunstrom responded to the charge with this statement, "We intend to vigorously defend ourselves in this matter." I called Jason to discuss his position on this and he did not return my call of course.
