I feel like I should do an update on this review. I don't in any way want to cast a negative light on BC LV. Julie and most of her crew are beyond kind. And know how to push you. But I question the safety of some of the things they do and my reasoning is because without any other purpose (besides bootcamp) I sustained 2 pelvic fractures that took over 9 months to heal. The whole purpose of going to boot camp is to push you. But I feel like there's a fine line between "tough" and "stupid" and at times my instructor crossed that line. Not to mention she took things EXTREMELY personally and I have heard at least of 4 different accounts of her "black listing" people because she was offended that they had to swtich classes to accomodate their own schedules or (like in my case) left for an instructor that was closer in proximity (saving LOTS of money in gas) and that was more understanding when I DID sustain my injury. I feel like it's a GREAT place to exercise, but maybe just don't overdue it like I did (I went 5 days a week) and give your body time to rest. You're doing hard work out there! It's hard on the body! Give yourself recovery space. I'm not the only former "camper" that has sustained injuries like this. There's something about the work that messes with your hips/pelvis. I have heard of a handful of different people who have come out with an injury similar to mine. I couldn't tell you if it was because of the extensive OVER running my instructor had us doing or if it was the logs or something. My XRays showed compression fractures and the docs remarks were, "Have you been in an automobile accident recently? You look like you've been smashed!" - So my update and overall message is this:
Great company. Great owner. But the instructors are merely people who have "been there" and done boot camp before, not necessarily medically understanding of limits of the body that are wise. So you need to be your own best advocate and listen to your body and be smart about what you're doing.
