| - Where do I begin?
To be fair, management has been very approachable and my issues (inside the apartment) have been dealt with in a timely manner. Chase, Brian, Brooke, the cleaning lady, and 2 other maintenance crew (African American and Hispanic males) have always been pleasant with me. Honestly, I think they deserve a raise for trying to make this place presentable for future residents.
However, since moving here in April, our dishwasher has broken down twice, toilet clogged on the very first week we moved in (and nope...not by poop), bath tub was also clogged the very first time I tried to take a shower, the rubber in our fridge is peeling off, and there are scratches all over the floor and trimmings inside the apartment. This wouldn't be so awful, except we are the very FIRST residents of this unit. This complex is built with cheap materials and in my opinion, refurbished appliances.
I think it will be easier to enumerate my issues with Slate, so here it goes:
1. Parking - yes! Believe all the bad reviews you hear about this awful situation. Parking has caused me so much anxiety that we try to only use 1 car. It's like being a prisoner at your own home!! You can come home any time of the day, and chances are, you still won't find an available slot for your other car. I work third shift now, and my husband and I have coordinated our schedules so we can share the same parking spot. I have an opportunity to work at another place on day shift, but when I think of the parking situation, it gives me anxiety, because I know there will not be a spot for my car when I come home at 1700. This is NOT normal! Management needs to stop lying and telling us that there are 50 additional spots, because there aren't. I've counted only 10 open spots!! Where are we supposed to park? I don't even have visitors because of this. I have read management's response to concerns about parking, that having 1 assigned spot is the norm for every other apartment complex. Yes, that's true. BUT these complexes also have a LOT of open parking for second cars and visitors. Simply put, this is a horrible place to live in if you have more than 1 car and intend to have visitors. What a nightmare!! I don't even know how they got a building permit without enough parking spaces. I hope someone investigates into this.
2. The valet trash is so-so. They're supposed to provide you with a trash bag for your recyclables, but that only happens 50% of the time.
3. Our hallways are always so dirty and smell like rotten garbage! They need to mop these floors at least 3-4 times per week.
4. I can hear my upstairs neighbor's every move. I can count how many times the neighbor flushes the toilet, takes a shower, and can even hear when the neighbor watches TV or has music on. Being woken up in the middle of the night because of footsteps is NOT good.
5. There's garbage everywhere in the common areas. To give credit, I do see management has a lady cleaning the club house almost every morning, and other maintenance crew cleaning the pool and even picking up dog poop out on the building's perimeter.
6. The gym is always so frigid cold. And I haven't seen an available towel in there since April.
7. Common utility bills every month are so expensive, we pay almost $200 extra every month for these.
I can forgive all their shortcomings...except the PARKING. DO NOT live here if you have more than 1 car and plan to have visitors. Whenever I see future residents touring the apartment complex, I want to tell them to RUN away from this place. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE we did!
And to current residents....if you absolutely hate a person, recommend this place!
